The hazard perception test part of the theory test gets
included in theory test to improve the learner
driver’s skills. The accidents average gets reduced
after the inclusion of hazard percepetion part of
theory test. It has been observed that young drivers
have quicker reactions than older drivers.
More the experienced driver, better the recognizing of
power hazards. |

This hazard perception test consists of 14 video
clips each about a minute long. The test delivered
on a computer and you have to respond through a
mouse click. |
|
Every clip
contain atleast one road scene. When a clip plays
hazard it means the driver should change the speed
of the vehicle, direction or it causes some action
to take by the driver. In some clips there are two
hazards, about which you will not have any idea.

The scoring
mechanism works like if you click early . |
|
Do not click
continuously as the hazard perception clip plays. If
you click continuously you will score zero. But if
you click on other hazards you will not lose any
points. |
|

|
The types of
hazard which may come in front of a car are as
follows : |
- Parked
vehicle/road works.
|
|
|
|
|
-
junctions and
roundabouts
|
-
vehicle emerging
from side roads, parking places or driveways
|
-
large vehicles
moving over to your side of the road
|
-
pedestrians or
cyclists crossing the road
|
|
|
|
|
-
cars joining the
motorways.
|
|
|
|
|
-
Poor road conditions
like fog, ice, rain etc.

|

The
pass rate for hazard perception test is 44 out of
75. |
|
|
|
After you finished your multiple choice part of
theory test you will be allowed to take a 3 minutes
break after which you need to appear for your hazard
perception part of theory test.
